The Comenius Meeting at Brandlehow School was held January 25th to January 28th 2011.
Brandlehow School gave the participants from their partner schools a warm welcome. The first evening the headteacher, Sara Grove, invited the foreign visitors to meet for dinner in Putney, close to the school.
The next morning the Meeting started having an Agenda with important items to discuss. Our Comenius Project lasts for two years. The Project Meeting in London was the last one before we have the celebration of the whole project in Italy in May 2011, and there were many things to present, discuss and agree on.
The main focus in this Meeting was:
1. The importance of having a survey of project work 2009 - 2011 in all the partner schools.
2. The outcomes of this Meeting will help us to plan a successful Comenius Meeting in May 2011.
3. This is the meeting when we must agree the work for the spring 2011.
There were 8 participants in the Comenius Project Meeting, 3 from Italy, 2 from Norway and one participant representing each of the other partner schools in Poland, Greece and UK. The partner schools had agreed not to bring pupils to this Meeting, and then have the possibility to have more pupils in the Meeting in Italy.
All partner schools should fill in a form showing the Project Activities in their own school the whole Project Period. This was a survey for all the activities, time of the activities, documentation and evaluation. In addition there was a seperate form for evaluating activities in the 1st part of this 2nd Project Year.
Every partner school presented activities in their schools, telling about some of them and showing the surveys. There were evaluations of Project Work by all partner schools, and everyone was focusing on the impact of the Comenius Project.
The Comenius Project has a great impact in all the partner schools, and everywhere " The Harvest of Fruits" from the work , shows a very successful development in the project , " The International Tree - Developing Environmental Awareness".
The partner schools agreed to make sure that some documentation of their Comenius work was shared with the others for use in their schools and as documentation within May 23rd 2011 in the Comenius Meeting in Italy.
The Meeting discussed the use of Fronter, the website and communication by Skype. There are much documentation on Fronter, and the coordinating school has made collections of this documentation for the others. Other project work, such as are PowerPoint - presentations, Photo Stories, films and pictures, is documented on CDs, DVDs and memory sticks. Some documents are too big to put in the Fronter - Room. There are very much excellent work.
There is communication between schools on Skype, and we have a plan for these activities every month. In addition we have tried to have Skype communication as a conference, being connected at the same time. We see the possibilities in using Skype as a valuable way of communicating.
The Italian partner school had valuable information about the Comenius Meeting in Italy. They had started the planning of the Programme. All partner schools are going to have both staff and pupils participating in the Comenius Meeting, and there will be a many participants all together. The Programme for the Comenius Meeting in Italy will focus on summarizing the outcomes of the project, the collaboration and the Final Report. There will be a Celebration of the Project, a presentation of Project Work, a sharing of cultural activities and communication and language activities. The Italian school will continue the planning of the Comenius Meeting.
The partner schools collaborated in order to make a great Comenius Meeting in Italy.
On Wednesday evening participants in the Comenius Meeting were invited to the musical about "Billy Elliot" together with many of the staff from Brandlehow School. We will say our thanks for a very nice evening.
