Doctor services

Haugesund has a wide range of doctor services. Besides the permanent system wich is called "Fastlege" the municipality has daycenter wich is open 24 hours a day, every day.

"Fastlege" is a general practitioner who has entered into an agreement with the municipality to participate in the permanent system. Everyone has the right to be associated with a permanent, named general practitioner.

Fastlege has to be available for their patients and should give priority to those in front of people who are not in the doctors list. You can even choose which doctor you will have, but the doctor must have available capacity and be involved in the permanent system. You can choose in a different municipality than the one you live in. It is voluntary to participate in the scheme, and you can freely choose a physician who is not with the permanent system, but then you pay a higher deductible. If you have parental responsibility for children under 16, you choose the Fastlege for your child.

You have a right to retain a permanent stay at your doctor today.
