Solvang Skole has a yearly three weeks long event for pupils collecting money for some worthy cause. They do small jobs at home and in their neighbourhood, and money earned goes to organizations helping other children og people in need. This year the pupils and the school council decided that the money should go to WWF, which is an organization protecting animals from being threatened by elimination. By earning money from baking cakes and selling them, cleaning their rooms or the whole house, taking dogs for a walk, doing the dishes, go shopping, wash cars, selling old toys and clothes and many other activities, they collected 30 000 NOKr.
This large sum of money was given to WWF on Wednesday 17 November 2010. We had organized assemblies with pupils and the school council for pupils in the school library. The head of WWF in Norway, Rasmus Hansson, communicated with Solvang Skole, and we were using a big screen and Skype. This was a wonderful experience for both WWF and Solvang Skole. WWF was very grateful receiving the money, and the head of the organization in Norway said that they had offices in all the countries of our Comenius partner schools. We are all on the right track doing our Comenius project work protecting environment.
