All partner schools were present at the Meeting, both staff and pupils. The Meeting was very successful thanks to our Polish partner school. Everything was very well planned and carried out, and the hospitality was great.
Everyone arrived during the afternoon and evening of May 24th at Gdansk Airport, and Tuesday May 25th was the first visit to Szkola Podstawowa. The school had appointed an International Team of pupils guiding the guests during the stay in school and other planned activities. They were well prepared and very nice pupils. The guesting pupils got to know them well, talking together in English and a little in the other languages as well and playing together.
After being welcomed at the school, groups had visits in classes and a round trip in the school buildings. Pupils took part in lessons, and teachers observed the activities. It was very interesting to take part in lessons in a Polish school. The school was nicely rebuilt and decorated inside the buildings, and everywhere we could see beautiful artistic work. Both staff and pupils made us feel very welcome.
After lunch there were sport activities in the gym, and mixed international teams played and competed in a variety of games. The others watched the games, cheering with different flags representing partner schools. This was very well organized as well.
In the afternoon everyone was invited to a dinner at a restaurant serving delicious Polish food. Thank you very much!
Then there was a big performance where many pupils in beautiful costumes were acting and dancing to beautiful music. The Headmaster, Marian Klukowski, had made a beautiful golden angle for each partner school. This was given to the coordinators, who made speeches in their own language. There were many people present, both people representing the municipality of Braniewo, teachers and parents. It was a wonderful performance.
On Wednesday May 26th there was a sightseeing tour by bus to nearby places, and the first stop was Frombork. We had a guided tour in the Cathedral and looked at a museum showing work of Nicolaus Copernicus. He was buried in the Cathedral. After visiting the Cathedral everyone was served a very nice lunch. Participants planning the project had to leave the others for the Comenius Meeting. The others continued the sightsseeing tour.
On the way to the the Planning Meeting, there was a short visit to the Headmaster`s house. It was very nice. Then everyone was ready for the Comenius Planning Meeting.
The Comenius Meeting was in the school library at Szkola Podstawowa. There was an Agenda for the Comenius Meeting. Project work was discussed, evaluated and planned. Project work is developing successfully, and the partner schools are looking forward to the 2nd project year. The Minutes from The Comenius Meeting is another document in addition to this Summary.
In the evening there was a disco for pupils representing all four partner schools. Very positive in ways of letting paticipants in the Meeting getting to know each another.
On Thursday May 27th it was time for the Presentations of project work in each school. There were more than one hundred people present. Everyone had their own Presentation of different work and activities, and the pupils presented themselves and some work. Pupils from Szkola Podstawowa were singing, dancing and doing acrobatic gymnastics betweeen the Presentations made by the different partner schools.
This last afternoon there was a big barbeque in the countryside. The Polish school had prepared an outdoor Performance with beautiful costumes and music. Afterwards we spent a nice time together, just enjoying being together and being served tasteful food. The pupils were playing and taking part in different activities.
All visitors returned to their countries on Friday May 28th. We are very grateful for everything and everyone have rich memories from the Comenius Meeting in Poland.
