Comenius Project 2009 -2011
”The International Tree – Developing Environmental Awareness”

The Project has got funding from the National Agencies in participating countries by being a Comenius Project in EUs “Life Long Learning –programme”.

The participating countries are Italy, Poland, UK, Greece and Norway.

There are mobilities of both staff and pupils in this project.

There has been four Comenius Meetings in the 1st Preoject year. In autumn 2009 there were two Meetings in Norway, in January 2010 there was a Meeting in UK, and in May the Comenius Meeting was in Poland. The total number of mobilities in these Comenius Meetings in the 1st Project Year has been 43 staff and 49 pupils.

Project Activities in the 1st Project Year:
• Create an artistic “International Tree” in every partner school.
• Make artistic leaves with environmental challenges.
• Make artistic leaves with suggestions how to solve environmental challenges.
• Make an ”Environmental Action Plan” for every partner school lasting for three months in spring 2010.
• Learn more about environment, climate and energy.
• “The International Language Day” with activities connected to language and culture in partnership countries.
• Focus on environmental matters locally and globally.
• Share environmental challenges and solutions with the partner schools.
• Contact other organisations and firms focusing on environment.
• Documentation of activities by DVDs and CDs with Photostories, PowerPoint-presentations, pictures, music and dances.
• Evaluations of ongoing work.
• ICT in cooperation by using e-mail, Skype, Fronter and website.
• Comenius Exhibitions.
• Staff, pupils and parents are involved in the project.
• Presentations, performances, assemblies with project activities.
• The municipality, other schools and school authorities have information about the project.
• Newspaper articles about project activities.

The development in the project the 1st Project Year has been successful, and we are very much looking forward to going on with cooperation in this Comenius Project..
